Tonight's session starts in a...

The inspiration to start this is an old post from Gorgon Bones that came up in my blog roll. Another blog I read (apologies that I can’t find it anymore) encouraged me to “just do it” in 2025 and figure it out as I go. So in the author’s honor, if I can find the original blog, I will take that as the impetus to learn how to edit an already posted blog and add the citation!

As for the blog itself, I find that amongst my few hobbies, table-top role playing games take up the majority of my free-time thinking. I read blogs on my commute, I think through game mechanic designs on my bike rides, and if there’s a game scheduled, I think about the players and possibilities for the session. And that’s what this blog will mostly be about: game theory, game design, and session write-ups.

My goal is to post weekly (I’m leaning towards Tuesdays). This will keep the blog posts on the shorter side, minimize the editing I can do, and force me to actually finish a product (even as small as a blog post). Establishing this rhythm hopefully helps build some discipline I feel I have been lacking in my hobby. My intended audience is anyone in the community but probably skewing away from beginner DM advice. If it doesn’t reach anybody, I’m OK with that too.

Thanks to anyone who has read this far and I welcome you on my journey! Feel free to send me an email at Tonights.Session@gmail.com
